My employer paid for my studies, but now I want to resign. Do I have to reimburse my employer for the studies that they already paid for?
If you signed an agreement with your employer, you will have to refer to the terms and conditions of the specific agreement. The agreement should preferably be in writing in order to provide the necessary protection for the parties and in order to set out the specific conditions in which payment will be made for the employee’s studies.
If no such agreement was made, it would be difficult for the employer to enforce payment of the studies from the employee.
We encourage our members to enter into study agreements with caution, and to seek proper advice before signing any agreement as it may contain certain conditions that they are not aware of.
